San Francisco City Guide – Our Three Favorite Restaurants San Francisco has so much to offer to so many people. There are great places to live and also great restaurants to eat some great food! There’s so many food options available for every kind of person and for all kinds of tastes. Thanks to its diversity, San Francisco has every type of food you can possibly imagine. Even though San Francisco has an infinite supply of great restaurants, we’d like to highlight our three most-popular places near our DeAnza Properties. Whether you are new to the area, or a local, we are sure you’ll enjoy this list of our three favorite restaurants in San Francisco. 1. San Francisco Marlowe 500 Brannan Street Marlow is a Must-Try Restaurant Source Marlowe is an award-winning local bistro with many different food options, great decor, and an electric atmosphere. It’s also one block from our property Bluxome Place, located at 4th and Brannan Street. This hipster hangout doesn’t just have charming Americana decor, they have incredible food options like Mushroom Polenta, Brown Butter Brussel Sprouts, sandwiches and even loaded fries. For lunch, patrons praise their chicken sandwich and special burger recipe. Dinner patrons rave about the Poulet Vert and Grilled Pork Chops. You’ll appreciate Marlowe’s generous portions because their talented chefs know how to make every dish special just for you. Just be aware that tables are spaced close together, so during peak hours, this can mean you are either cozy or cramped, depending on if you like close tables. If being really close to other restaurant patrons is not your thing, the rear dining room tends to be a little quieter than the rest of the place. Marlowe also serves a full selection of cocktails, regional beer, and wines. They’re open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch as well. You definitely need to add this restaurant to your list of restaurants to try. 2. Dumpling Time 11 Division Street Dumpling Time Offers Some of the Best Dumplings In the World! Source This casual, fun restaurant is part of the Omakase Restaurant Group which runs several popular eateries around the city. This restaurant is just around the corner, and two blocks from our Metro at Showplace Square property. The Owner of Dumpling Time is Kash Feng, and he says, “any time of day is dumpling time!” Growing up in Xi’an, China, his mother’s dumplings were a staple of his diet, and it inspired him to create the restaurant. At Dumpling Time, his recipes are inspired by the ones his mother used. Diners have a choice of vegetarian, seafood and beef dumplings, either steamed or fried. There’s no shortage of things to try. Their Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings are definitely a special highlight. The lovely pink Tom Yum Goong XLB features beet skin wrappings stuffed with pork belly, black tiger shrimp, and coconut milk. The Xiao Long Bao is served with a straw, and it’s available in regular or king-size portions. The restaurant staff is incredibly friendly and are always happy to accommodate any allergies or dietary restrictions you may have. Since this restaurant is very popular, you may have a short wait during busy periods, but it gives you the opportunity to watch the staff make the dumplings by hand. If you have room for dessert, be sure to try the highly-recommended options like Green Tea Milk Buns and Steamed Egg Custard Buns. 3. The Grove - Design District 1 Henry Adams Street The Grove is a very unique “living room” style restaurant Source The Grove is often referred to as San Francisco’s Living Room for the intentionally cozy decor and warm spirit throughout the restaurant. Of the Grove’s four locations throughout the city, this one is a vibrant mix of owners Ken & Anna Zankel’s favorite foods, favorite music, and combination of favorite interior design aesthetics. And, not to mention, it’s only 500 feet from our Metro at Showplace Square property! You can enjoy modern comfort food like Bacon and Cheddar Deep Dish Quiche, Hot Pastrami on Jewish Rye or the Mac and Cheese Blowout. While munching on the incredible food, you can admire the wood floors, tables, walls and fireplace, which create a cozy mountain lodge feeling. This is a great place to find a respite from the sometimes overly tech-focused Silicon Valley. In fact, they even promote that they don’t have a social media presence because they prefer to focus on the “social rather than the media.” Breakfast is served all day, as well as all of their lunch and dinner options. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to suit whatever mood you’re in. It’s great for going by yourself, for business meetings, or with a group of your friends.
